Play dough is meant for playing

Rainy days in the Texas summertime, actually anytime, are far and few between.  But we had one yesterday!!  And yes, it is that exciting because that means you don't have to water your yard that day.

Theo liked crawling around through the rain, so I am feeling quite optimistic and planned another day at the splash pad.

After we'd had enough of that we came inside and I whipped up a batch of play dough from some flour, salt, water and food coloring.  I thought Theo might enjoy playing with it, and he might actually play with it since I mentioned earlier, he doesn't necessarily put everything in his mouth these days.   And he did.  He actually played with it for a couple of minutes.

But then, it just looked too tasty.  He had to try it.  Yuck!  Its called play dough for a reason.  Not meant for eating.  He hated it, made multiple awful faces and then tried it again!  The second time sent him gagging, so that was the end of that.

We spent the rest of the rainy part of the day playing peek-a-boo and shape sorting.  It turns out, shapes taste much better than play dough.

Dallas..a few weeks back.

A few weeks ago we went to Dallas for Gavin's 7th (how can that kid already be 7?!?) birthday and welcome home Brady swim party.

Kailee, "Can I carry him?" Sweet sweet cousins!  Gavin and Kailee were so sweet with Theo and shared all of their toys and books.  Theo is one lucky kid to have such fun cousins.

Theo is getting his own water bottle out of the cooler.  Man, that kid loves water!

L-J, I swear the other pic I took was an even funnier face.  I am also lucky to have such fun cousins!

Lately...

We have been reading many, many books.  I have even started giving him a book in his crib during naps.  He will just look through the pages and talk to himself, and then all of the sudden sweet, sweet sleep hits.

Theo still likes to take his hat off.

We are having many, many conversations.  I have no idea what they are about, but he sure does!

Theo is still a big flirt.

We love the pool.  And Lollie.

Mangos are still delicious.

It's JULY?!?

Happy belated July 4th!  We had an amazing day filled with napping, swimming, more napping, more swimming and fireworks. Of course, I don't have the pictures to prove it.  Theo has slowed down on putting everything in his mouth.  He likes to wander around the yard while I water in the mornings.  And since he is not putting everything in his mouth, I don't have to constantly be right next to him pulling everything out of his mouth.  He gets to go on his own little adventures.  Yesterday he discovered our big pile of rocks for the first time.  He didn't even put a single one in his mouth! Not one! My babe is growing up.

Then he crawled over to his favorite washer pit/dirt pile, and at least gave me a look asking if it was okay to eat some dirt. I said no.  He did it anyways.  A little dirt don't hurt.

And here is the one and only 4th of July picture we took in the parking lot of the swimming pool.  Theo isn't even smiling.  Man, we have to get better about taking pictures!
